Following Jailbreak, Files Uncovered In iPad Filesystem Hint At New Streaming Radio Functionality
New files possibly pointing to a forthcoming, Apple streaming radio service - or at least new functionality - have been discovered in the iPad's file system. The files include a button icon with a picture that resembles a radio tower, similar to one which used to be found in iTunes. This doesn't definitively prove that a streaming music service is in the works, of course, but it has led to more speculation on the matter.

SimpleTV Begins Shipping Its $149 Box For Streaming Live Or Recorded TV To The iPhone, iPad, Roku, And Web
Well, it’s taken a while, but SimpleTV is finally shipping its $149 streaming TV box to users. After previewing its hardware and CES, and following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the combination Sling-TiVo device will soon be in users’ living rooms. For real, this time. The SimpleTV box converts TV signals into video streams, which can then be watched on your PC, iPhone, iPad, Roku box, or Apple TV via AirPlay. In that way it’s kind of like a newer, cheaper Slingbox. But it also has a USB connection, letting users connect their own storage devices to create DVR-like capabilities. It’s sort of the ultimate time- and place-shifting device, for folks who care about those capabilities. Since introducing the product to users, SimpleTV has been focused primarily on the cord-cutter market. It has no video out option or pass-through capabilities, so you can’t tie it into your cable setup without splitting the line. In its Kickstarter campaign, SimpleTV bundled its box with over-the-air ...

More Women Than Men Use The Kindle Fire, And iPad Is Getting Highest Satisfaction Score: ComScore
The tablet market is still relatively young, with penetration in the fast-forward U.S. market only reaching 47% by 2013, but we are already starting to see some usage patterns emerging, according to comScore. In a survey of 6,000 tablet owners in the U.S., the researchers have found the Kindle Fire has more female than male users while iPad skews to males. It also found that Apple's tablet has the highest satisfaction ratings of all tablets -- although across iPad, Android and Kindle Fire tablets, all rate relatively close to each other, and all of them are higher than the average satisfaction ratings for smartphones. And when assessing what motivates purchases, brands play second-fiddle to functionality and price, with apps availability, along with cost, scoring as the most important factors considered when a consumer purchases a tablet.

WordPress Launches Retina Support For Gravatar And All Hosted And Self-Hosted WP Sites
WordPress' Matt Mullenweg just announced that the WordPress.com interface and all the blogs hosted on the site are now optimized for high-density displays like the ones found on Apple's new iPad and Retina MacBook Pro. Through JetPack 1.6, which also launched today, users with self-hosted WordPress sites can also enable the same functionality. The arrival of these high dots-per-inch (HiDPI) devices took many developers by surprise and while many Mac apps, for example, have already been optimized for Retina displays, most developers are still playing catch-up. Things are even worse on the Web. As Mullenweg notes, most web sites "don’t have high-resolution equivalents of all their graphics to take advantage of the new screen, so they get “doubled” and look fuzzy, they stand out like a sore thumb."
