Nokia Confirms The Flagship Lumia 925 For T-Mobile U.S: 4.5? AMOLED Screen, Metal Edges, Extra Lens & New Camera Software
Fresh from last week’s Verizon Lumia device launch, Nokia has taken the wraps off a new smartphone in its Windows Phone-based Lumia range at an event in London today. The Lumia 925 is its first flagship for T-Mobile in the U.S. This means that following the Lumia 928 launch on Verizon, and factoring in Nokia’s initial launch of the Lumia 920 on AT&T last year, Nokia now has a flagship Windows Phone ranged on all three major U.S. carriers. Globally the Lumia 925 will be ranged with Vodafone in Europe, coming to markets including Germany, Italy, Spain and the U.K. (priced at €469), and in China with China Mobile and China Unicom. The device will ship in June in Europe, with a U.S. launch slated for soon after. The Windows Phone 8-based 4G Lumia 925 continues Nokia’s strategy of emphasising the camera smarts of its flagships Windows Phones, including PureView branding, Carl Zeiss optics and an 8.7MP lens with image stabilisation tech inside. But the camera hardware in the 925 is ...

Nokia Teases New Lumia's Camera In Prime Time TV Ad, Ahead Of “See What's Next” London Event On Tuesday
Nokia has run a TV advert teasing a new Lumia device it’s widely expected to unveil at an event in London on Tuesday. The advert ran during a prime time evening slot on Channel 4, during a screening of The Inbetweeners movie. The teaser advert focused on the camera of an unnamed new Lumia smartphone, with close up shots of the lens and flash, and the words “more than your eyes can see” and “the new Nokia Lumia is coming”. Nokia sent out invites to “see what’s next” as “the Lumia story continues” last month, ahead of the May 14th event. Last week the mobile maker unveiled a new flagship smartphone for the U.S. on Verizon, unboxing the Lumia 928 — a device that had been widely leaked ahead of its official launch, including by Nokia who published a camera comparison with the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5. It also took the wraps off an update to its Asha range: the Series 40-based $99 Asha 501 is the first device to run Nokia’s new Asha touchscreen UI. With recent updates at ...

Timothy Lord Discovers the Good Night Lamp at CES (Video)
Many reporters go to the CES, AKA Consumer Electronic Show (warning - link landing page plays annoying sound) in Las Vegas to see the newest 42.001" LCD TVs, which are 0.001" bigger than last year's 42" models. And there are many boring Windows 8 devices, many of which both run Windows and can display the number 8. These items, along with keynotes from tech gurus like Bill Clinton (We're not making this up!) may be amazing to some news outlets, but not to Slashdot or to Our Man Timothy, who seeks out the new, the bizarre, and the unusual and -- without taking a dime from them -- lets their instigators talk to him about their wares. But it's got to be good stuff, not run of the mill incremental advances. Like the Good Night Lamp(tm)), which was invented by Alexandra Deschamps-Sonsino, whose "work has been exhibited," says the goodnightlamp.com/team page, "at the Milan Furniture Fair, London Design Festival, The Victoria & Albert Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Now the Good ...
